Are you falling prey to merchants?

Marketers of any product cater to the existing need of the market promoting their products and services through claims and promises which aim to solve a problem. When the product fails to keep its promise, it would normally fail, though the marketer tries his best to sustain the demand. Weight loss products interestingly, never seem to fade away, except a few of course, though they repeatedly fail to keep its promise.

The reason for this is simple. The fad for speedy weight loss has not faded! The demand for such miraculous products is so great that even if it fails in one market, another would pick it up. Weight loss is every one’s pet dream and the marketers of weight loss diets and supplements are intelligent dream merchants who feed on to the customer’s dream with lofty promises, celebrity endorsements and every other conceivable advertising tool to make their claims trustworthy.

It is not surprising anymore that you have also fallen prey to their incredible advertising claims of making you lose those extra pounds by the simple act of swallowing a magic potion or an equally magical pill. You have probably paid them substantial amount of your savings and have waited eternally for the magic to happen, only to find the weight you were dreaming to get rid of, has staged a come back..

So what is the truth behind weight loss? The first action step you need to do is to stop looking at those glam photos in the weight loss ads and take a realistic view of your weight loss goal. How much you wish to lose, from which part of your anatomy and within what time frame are three simple questions you have to answer your self.

The second action step that you need to do, if you are serious about getting back to shape and have your doctor’s consent on such matters, is to bring about a drastic change in your diet and include an optimum amount of physical exercise regularly.

One of the harsh truths that you have to understand is that losing weight is impossible in a short span of time – and even if you do, such crash diet programs may have serious health implications sooner or later. So the best option for you to do is to take your time, work out a balanced diet plan, preferably in consultation with a qualified dietician or your doctor and chalk out a feasible and practical exercise plan, which you can continue everyday.

One of the biggest pitfalls of following a strict diet and physical exercise plan is that we lose interest in the whole program in one week flat. Why does this happen? It is because: we do not have enough mental discipline to continue with what we have started with all good intention; we have set very tough goals and find it impossible to reach them which results in losing motivation and interest.

Changing your diet, incidentally does not mean leaving all the food that you liked and going on a near ascetic abstinence formula. Eat balanced food, rich in vegetables and fruits and fiber, leaving out red meat, fried food and aerated drinks. Make exercising a habit preferably at a gym or with a friend so that you have company when you want to communicate, etc.

Essentially, losing weight does not involve in falling prey to tall and impossible claims or going of a crash diet. Instead, the success of any weight loss program largely depends on you, your determination and the will to see it to the end till such times that you have achieved your weight loss goals.
